Coal was found abandoned on a New Mexico highway in 2016, with veterinarians estimating he was born in November 2015. He was a gentle, smart, and truly "good boy" who was always motivated for a long run but equally loved cuddling and sunbathing. He mastered many commands, including sitting, lying down, speaking, and even standing on his hind legs.

Later in life, Coal enjoyed many adventures, from hiking at Palo Duro Canyon and White Sands National Park to swimming and kayaking near Dallas. Even after being diagnosed with bone cancer in 2024, he remained spirited and did not let his illness slow him down for another year and a half. Coal will be missed for his kisses, cuddles, and most of all, his love.
