Today, we say so long to our girl Dixie Louise. She clocked out for her last shift at work and went to be with Jesus. She has been sick for several weeks and we had to make the hard decision to send her over the rainbow bridge. Though no words could ever convey what she means in our lives, I will give it a try. This week has been especially tough. Just knowing that our time with her was running out and knowing that these moments would be our last simply take your breath away. Our hearts are beyond broken and our lives will be a lot dimmer without her light. She was our love, our fierce protector, our strong willed barking machine and Duke’s soul mate. She healed broken things in us with her undying love and never left our side. Most people saw the storm, but to us she was our calm, comfort and joy! Her spot by my side each night in bed as she recharged for another day of work will feel so empty. Her love, warmth, and loyalty was unmatched. She barked loud but loved louder. She guarded our hearts and our home with everything in her. She was a born leader, beyond smart, a little stubborn, a lot sassy, ruled the roost, loved sunbathing, soft blankets and gave the best cuddles. She had every delivery driver shaking in their boots, she never met one that she liked even when they were delivering her treats. If you have ever been to our office or our home you have heard in full force. She was small but mighty and to us she was perfect in every way. Her illness was sudden and unexpected. We tried everything to nurse her back, but God needed her home to handle things. The pain she endured during her final days was heartbreaking to witness, but she never gave up even when her body stopped cooperating. Her bark will quieten now but her love and memories will live in our hearts forever. We were blessed that God gave her to us for almost 13 years. She was our gift everyday and we will forever be grateful that we got to be her Mommy and Daddy and Duke’s big sister. Please keep sweet Duke in your prayers, as he and Dixie we inseparable and shared a love so special and so deep. We will miss everything about her…even the cheesy ears and Frito foot smell. Healing will be long and emotional for our family but we rest knowing that she is with Jesus, our Baby Andy and family up in Heaven… no longer in pain and running free! Keep watch over us sweet girl and meet us at the the gates Goosey. We love you more than you will ever know and miss you to the depths of our soul.♥️🙏🏻
