Tribute To Star
Star was a beautiful 3-year-old blonde American Cocker Spaniel when she had an accident and had to be put to rest.
I had been recently widowed but had thought about even prior to that about getting a small dog to add to our family. My sweet Daughter in law did some searching for me and found exactly what I was looking for.
The young lady I purchased her from gave me some papers from her purchase of Star. Star, originally came from a breeding facility. At her young age she had already had 2 litters of puppies. The young girl that had her next could no longer take care of her and decided to sell her.
When I first saw Star, she was under weight and dirty. I hesitated. Her long blonde fur was matted and flea and tick infested. But when she and I made eye contact we knew we were meant for each other. I took her home and got her treated and groomed and she was gorgeous! Everyone said she looked like "Lady" from "Lady and the Tramp."
We had such a fun year together. She gained weight and loved running circle eight zoomies around me. She was so smart and so sweet.
I did not need a security camera to let me know someone was coming to my door. She was my security alarm and protector. She especially, for unknown reasons did not like men. It even took her a while to get used to my Son and grown Grandsons. She adored children though, even the little boys. She was very gentle with them.
I told my children that if she had not already had a name I could have named her Shadow, because she never left my side. I did not want to change her name though. If fact it was rather appropriate, because my late husband was an amateur astronomer and loved to look at the stars.
My fondest memories of my sweet Star will always be seeing her nuzzle her cute little heart shaped nose into the crack of the door to greet me before I could even get it fully open when I returned home. When I sat down to watch TV, she would jump in my lap and scrunch down right beside me. In bed she would snuggle in my back so close sometimes I thought she was going to push me out of bed.
Even though our time together was short, it was at a time when I needed her most. She brought so much love and joy back into my life when I needed it most and will be forever loved and forever missed.
